SMALL GROUPS
At Calvary, we believe our church must grow larger and smaller at the same time. We grow larger to reach as many people as possible with the life-giving message of Jesus. We gather in small groups, build community and care for people. Calvary is a church of small groups, not a church with small groups. We base our small group model on the early church as described in the Bible in the book of Acts. In Acts, you can read about the tremendous growth of the first church in Jerusalem, where small group meetings in homes helped lay the foundation. Small groups have one, simple purpose to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in community with others, and only then can we experience the full life he intends for us. We believe life change happens in context of relationships. Meaningful relationships can be hard to find, and small groups exist to make life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6)
At Calvary, we believe that the future of the church depends on effective ministry to children today. The Children’s Ministry Staff is dedicated to investing in the spiritual growth of its students through programs that are fun, nurturing, and Bible-based.
Sunday School
Sunday morning classes are provided for ages 0 to 12 every week at 11am. This is an exciting time for your child(ren) to learn about the word of God.
J.A.M. (“Jesus and Me”)
J.A.M. is a dynamic children’s learning opportunity offered on Wednesday nights which brings kids of all ages together for a time of worship, music, Bible study, and fun.
Kids' Choir
The Kids' Choir rehearses on Wednesday nights during the J.A.M. sessions. This is a time for kids to be a part of worshipping their creator.
STUDENT MINISTRY
Come join Impact Student Ministries! We are a group of young people excited about making a difference in our world, and we want you to help us do it.
Whether it’s a youth service, summer camp, community service project, or a social event, there’s always something on the calendar that will provide an opportunity for you to connect with God, your peers, the body of Christ, and the local community.
Visit us Sunday mornings at 11am in the Student Center and at our Friday Night Impact services – orchestrated for students and by students, with active student participation in every aspect of the service, from planning to worship leading to speaking.
YOUNG ADULTS
Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I struggling to decide on a major in school?” “What am I supposed to do with my future and for God?” “What should I be looking for in a spouse?” or “How do I deal with this heartbreak and disappointment in my life?” If you have air in your lungs and are over the age of 18, you’ve probably asked yourself these questions more than you care to admit.
Axis serves the 18- to 29-year-old singles community. We believe that being a single young adult is not a problem to be solved, but rather a unique opportunity to grow in faith and discover the answer to life’s questions through Bible study, prayer, and an ever-intensifying relationship with God. Axis is designed to bridge the gap between youth ministry and family ministry by equipping this generation’s young adults to tackle real-life issues through Biblical application – issues like relationships, spiritual growth, college/career planning, outreach, and financial responsibility.
The Axis Staff is not only dedicated to investing in young adults, but also believe that the key to finding a place in the Body of Christ begins with giving back and getting involved. In Axis, you’ll not only be served, but you’ll be equipped to identify ministries in which you can serve as well.
LADIES MINISTRY
At Calvary, ladies of all ages are invited into a community of fellowship with each other through a variety of gatherings, both spiritual and social. Whether you attend one of our local Ladies Ministry events or regional Ladies Retreats, or offer your time and effort in staffing an event, you will be blessed. Fellowshipping with other Godly women, for any purpose, will enrich your life.
MEN’S MINISTRY
Men’s Ministry coordinates a variety of spiritual and social functions throughout the year for the purpose of building a sense of comradery amongst the men, both young and not-so-young, of Calvary. Men’s Ministry also coordinates work days throughout the year for special projects and yearly up-keep on the church campus. Proverbs 22:17 says, “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”. The Men’s Ministry is committed to building Godly relationships between the men of Calvary. Don’t miss out!
SINGLES MINISTRY
The Singles Ministry coordinates social events within our own congregation and also makes outings throughout the year to various Singles conferences and gatherings in the Chicagoland area. Christian singles face unique situations that their married peers don’t; whether you’re divorced, widowed, or never-married, you will find strength and encouragement within this group of believers. Single adults of all ages are welcome.
FAMILY MINISTRY
The Family Ministry coordinates several social events throughout the year that serve to encourage and strengthen the family unit: family bowling/skating nights, camping trips, and our annual Family Fall Fest, to name a few. Don’t let your family miss out on the opportunity to participate in good food, good fellowship, and good fun with the families of Calvary.
